The PowerDsine Power over Gigabit Ethernet 6000G mid-span family provides safe power over standard Ethernet cabling to both existing 10/100 baseT network devices and emerging Gigabit devices.
The PowerDsine 6000G PoE mid-spans are the market's first mid-spans providing power for Gigabit Ethernet devices, such as IP-Telephones, wireless LAN access points and IP-Network Video cameras and Video Servers in enterprise installations, offering long term investment protection by supporting both existing 10/100 baseT devices while ensuring support for future 1000baseT devices.
Remote Power
PowerDsine 6000G Series Power over Gigabit Ethernet mid-span Hubs are connected to an existing Ethernet or Fast Ethernet infrastructure via standard Category 5 cabling. Whenever a device is incompatible with the power scheme provided by the Power Hub, an external splitter is added. The splitter separates the DC voltage and the Ethernet data signal into two separate outputs. [see ]
Smart Ethernet Wiring
PowerDsine 6000G Series Power over Ethernet mid-span Hubs directly transfer data transmissions coming from Ethernet terminals on pairs 1/2 and 3/6. They act as a normal patch panel for Ethernet connections ensuring continuous and reliable performance. Power is provided only on the unused Ethernet pairs 4/5 and 7/8.
Standard Compliance
PowerDsine 6000G Series Power over Gigabit Ethernet mid-span Hubs are fully compatible with the IEEE 802.3 standard (when no inline power is supplied) and with IEEE 802.3af enabling compatibility with PoE products.
Minimal Crosstalk and Insertion Losses
Normally, introducing a DC voltage into an Ethernet network would increase the noise susceptibility of the system, thereby degrading the Ethernet signal. The PowerDsine design ensures that power distribution does not interfere with concurrent network operation. The hub includes high performance, robust RJ-45 shielded connectors, an intelligent wiring layout and optimized line termination enabling the Power over Ethernet Hub to operate as a fully integrated device for data communication and power.

Advanced Auto-Sensing Algorithm
PowerDsine 6000G Series Power over Gigabit Ethernet mid-span Hubs feature a unique load auto-sensing algorithm that automatically detects Power over Ethernet terminals and supplies inline power. Backward compatibility ensures continuous and proper operation of devices, such as Network Interface Cards (NICs), that do not expect power on their Ethernet connection.
Concise LED Displays
PowerDsine 6000G Series Power over Gigabit Ethernet mid-span Hubs provide real-time network monitoring through the front panel, including two LEDs indicating normal or overload conditions. An additional LED indicates when the main power supply is on.
Centralized Power
Deploying Power over Ethernet in conjunction with one central UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) is a cost effective way to distribute back-up power and ensure the uninterrupted operation of powered devices in the event of main electrical power failure.
Power Management
This feature of the PowerDsine 6000G Series Power over Gigabit Ethernet enables the handling of output power per port in the event of limited available power. Power management is achieved by monitoring the unit’s input voltage and current. Output power is limited to the total available power and maximum power allowable per port. Parameters of Maximum Available Power, Ports priority, and Maximum Allowable Power per Port, can be set at the factory or in accordance with the customer’s configuration.
PowerView Pro
Remote Management System offers complete management capability, enabling on-line supervision, configuration, monitoring and control of PowerDsine’s Power over Ethernet devices. PowerView is based on the Windows PC platform.
PowerView Pro is fully standards-compliant and may be managed by such common management platforms as HP OpenView, SNMPc and others. Supported management functions include switching on and off of specific ports, setting mid-span parameters and monitoring mid-span activity. For example, a remote access point can be reset in case of failure by issuing a simple command. Additionally, an alarm can be generated when this same access point fails to accept power from them mid-span.
