Axis 292 Network Video Decoder
The Axis 292 Network Video Decoder can convert a single digital stream of MPEG-2 or Motion JPEG video and audio from up to 128 Axis network video sources into analogue signals. This makes it possible to connect conventional analogue video devices such as TV sets, monitors and video switches to an IP-based Axis system.

Via an Ethernet network such as a LAN or corporate network, the Axis 292 takes a stream of digital video and audio from a specified Axis network camera or video server, and converts it in real-time into high quality, analogue signals. Sensitive video streams can be encrypted using HTTPS.

Axis 292 video decoders can be used, in combination with Axis video servers, to connect together separate analogue systems at different locations via an Ethernet network. The remote systems, consisting of conventional CCTV cameras, video matrices or other analogue technology, can them be managed as though they were placed locally.

See Axis 292 - Overview for an overview of Axis 292 applications.

Axis 292 Network Video Decoder - Event Management
AXIS 292 can be configured to keep track of multiple events continuously, as well as to switch between video sources at given time intervals. With auto-connect on alarm, for example when motion is detected, video can be displayed instantly, allowing the operator to take appropriate action. Large areas can be monitored anywhere the network goes, by switching between up to 128 different video sources.
Axis 292 Network Video Decoder - Applications
The Axis 292 Network Video Decoder is used primarily as an extension to an existing analogue installation. The Axis 292 is ideal for retail applications, campus security and city centre surveillance.
Decoding a single analogue video stream in a network video system:
A digital surveillance system with a network video decoder can display network video on a public display TV or other analogue monitors, i.e. in a retail shop.
Connecting two analogue systems over a LAN/WAN:
Organizations that operate in multiple buildings can reduce the cost for security by integrating a remote analogue system with another analogue system at the main location.
City surveillance systems:
Most city centres, which have a good networking infrastructure, can easily expand the existing analogue system by cost-effectively connecting devices through a wide area network with the use of Axis network cameras or video servers and Axis 292 Network Video Decoders. Existing analogue cameras with features such as day/night functionality can continue to be utilized in such a system.
